The UK Labour government has launched a large national operation to arrest and deport asylum seekers and migrant workers accused of being in the country illegally. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced a new scheme to support migrant workers who have returned to the State after facing harassment in other parts of India.
