Canada has once again shown its commitment to supporting safe and humane migration by taking part in the launch of the Bangladesh Migration Snapshot 2024 and the Manual on Migration. The initiative was led by the Government of Bangladesh in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and several development partners.

According to the High Commission of Canada in Dhaka, this effort is an important step toward creating a more effective and humane system for managing migration in Bangladesh. It focuses on using real data and practical policies to make migration safer and more organized.

Through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Canada supported the development of the Manual on Migration, which aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s national systems for safe, orderly, and regular migration. The manual will help guide officials and partners in improving how migration is handled, ensuring the protection and rights of all migrants.

Canada also confirmed that it will continue working closely with IOM and the Bangladesh government to improve migration management, strengthen border services, and fight human trafficking. In addition, Canada will keep promoting regional cooperation through the Bali Process, which brings countries together to address challenges related to irregular migration.

The High Commission added that Canada remains deeply committed to helping Bangladesh protect the rights of its migrant workers and ensure that migration policies support inclusion and long-term development.

This continued collaboration highlights Canada’s broader goal, which is to make migration safer, fairer, and more humane for everyone.
