The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is actively engaged in negotiations with Iran to address the pressing challenges faced by Afghan migrants. Hamidullah Fitrat, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Islamic Emirate, reported that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation are working diligently to resolve these issues. The primary focus of these discussions is to enhance the conditions for Afghan migrants in Iran, a group that has been experiencing increasing restrictions and hardships.

Afghan migrants in Iran have encountered numerous difficulties, particularly due to a ban on street vending and stringent regulations impacting those without legal residency. Saeed Beigi, the CEO of Tehran Industries and Professions Management Company, clarified that foreign nationals lacking legal permits are prohibited from conducting business or utilizing national resources. He noted that migrants who possess the appropriate legal residency can apply for business booths, thereby creating limited opportunities for some.

Concerns regarding these growing restrictions were echoed by Afghan migrants, including Naqibullah, who lamented the challenges they face, such as being denied access to basic services like purchasing bread or securing employment. These issues reflect a broader trend of increasing pressure on Afghan nationals residing in Iran, making their daily lives increasingly difficult.

Activists, including Mohammad Khan Mohammadzai, have been vocal about the need for regulatory measures and the issuance of permits for undocumented migrants. They argue that such actions are essential for alleviating the hardships faced by these individuals and ensuring their rights are respected. The call for better regulations is part of a larger effort to advocate for the rights of migrants and improve their overall well-being in host countries.

In response to the situation, the acting Afghan Minister of Refugees and Repatriation has urged Iranian authorities to treat all migrants in accordance with international laws. This appeal highlights the need for humane treatment and fairness for Afghan nationals, who have often faced discrimination and mistreatment in their host country.

The ongoing negotiations between the Islamic Emirate and Iranian officials represent a critical step toward addressing these complex challenges. By working together, both governments hope to find solutions that will improve the conditions for Afghan migrants and foster a more supportive environment.

Ultimately, the situation for Afghan migrants in Iran shows the broader issues of migration and human rights. As negotiations continue, the hope is that meaningful progress will be made to protect the rights and dignity of Afghan nationals, allowing them to lead more stable and secure lives.
