On Monday, September 2, a group of migrants met with the prefect of Naples to discuss recent incidents of racism and intolerance. This meeting followed a protest held by local foreign communities to raise awareness about these issues. The demonstration took place in Grumo Nevano, a town near Naples, where migrants from various surrounding areas gathered to voice their concerns.

The protest was sparked by an attack that reportedly happened early on September 1. According to local news, a migrant was brutally beaten by a gang of teenagers. The victim suffered severe injuries, including multiple blows to the head. This incident is part of a troubling pattern of violence against migrants in the area, with previous attacks involving glass bottles, as reported by a spokesperson for the migrant groups.

During the protest, dozens of migrants marched from Casandrino to Grumo Nevano, holding signs and chanting “stop the violence.” The Carabinieri police were present to ensure the demonstration remained peaceful and to manage traffic disruptions caused by the protest. While the protest did slow down traffic and the area was temporarily sealed off, no further incidents of violence were reported.

This protest highlights ongoing issues of racial intolerance and the need for more effective measures to protect migrants and prevent such attacks. The local community and authorities are being called upon to address these problems and work towards greater inclusivity and safety for all residents.
