Uzbekistan and Türkiye are collaborating to establish a qualification assessment center aimed at labour migrants. The Ministry of Employment in Uzbekistan announced that this initiative will develop a professional certification system to evaluate the skills of Uzbeks seeking employment abroad. The project is designed to ensure that workers’ qualifications align with international standards, enabling them to obtain certificates recognized across Europe.

This initiative comes on the heels of a recent visit by Mustafa Najmi Ilhan, the head of Türkiye’s Qualification Development Organization. During his visit, Ilhan and his delegation toured various vocational training centers throughout Uzbekistan, gaining insights into the current training systems in place. Following their assessment, Turkish experts provided recommendations on how to effectively implement the new qualification assessment system.

The introduction of this center is expected to streamline the process for Uzbek workers. By obtaining internationally recognized certifications, they will no longer need to revalidate their skills when transitioning to foreign labour markets. This is particularly significant as many Uzbeks seek better opportunities abroad, especially in European countries.

As part of the collaboration, both nations aim to enhance the employability of Uzbek workers, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and qualifications. This effort not only benefits individual workers but also strengthens the economic ties between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

The development of this professional certification system is seen as a crucial step in addressing the needs of labour migrants, facilitating smoother transitions into the global workforce. With growing demand for skilled labour in various sectors, this initiative could significantly impact the livelihoods of many Uzbeks seeking work overseas.

Overall, the establishment of a qualification assessment center represents a proactive approach to labour migration, reflecting both Uzbekistan’s commitment to its citizens and Türkiye’s role as a key partner in this endeavour.
