Malaysia is planning to introduce a new digital system aimed at improving how foreign workers are recruited, in a move that could reduce reliance on costly middlemen.
The system, developed by Bestinet Sdn., was created by businessman Aminul Islam. It is designed to allow employers to hire migrant workers directly through an online platform.
Known as the Universal Recruitment Advanced Platform (TURAP), the system will provide a digital portal where companies can register, search for workers, and manage recruitment processes more efficiently.
The main goal of the platform is to cut out intermediaries, some of whom have been criticized for charging high recruitment fees to both employers and migrant workers. By enabling direct hiring, the government hopes to make the process more transparent and affordable.
Sources familiar with the plan say the system is still being finalized, but it is expected to play a key role in reshaping migrant labor recruitment in the country.
If implemented successfully, TURAP could help address long-standing concerns about exploitation and high costs in the migrant worker system, while also making it easier for businesses to access needed labor.
