Egypt is preparing to launch a fully digital system for issuing work permits to foreign nationals, aiming to simplify applications and make the process faster, more transparent, and efficient for employers and migrant workers.

The Ministry of Labor is developing an integrated electronic platform and dedicated service centre that will handle the entire foreign work permit process, from company registration and accreditation to application review, approval, permit issuance and verification.

The initiative is part of the Egyptian government’s wider digital transformation programme and is intended to replace existing procedures with a streamlined electronic system.

Labour Minister Hassan Raddad recently met representatives of Tarabot Government Services Company, led by Mohamed Abdel-Dayem, to review preparations for the platform’s launch.

During the meeting, officials examined progress on the platform’s development, preparations for the dedicated service centre and the installation of the infrastructure needed to operate the new system.

Under the planned system, employers will be able to complete multiple stages of the work permit process through a single digital platform. This will include registering and accrediting companies, submitting applications, tracking approvals, obtaining permits and verifying issued documents.

The ministry said integrating these services is expected to improve transparency and reduce duplication, while making it easier for businesses and foreign nationals to navigate the work permit process.

Raddad said the project reflects the ministry’s commitment to modernising government services and improving the experience of investors, businesses and foreign workers operating in Egypt.

The digital platform is also expected to reduce the time and administrative effort involved in processing applications by establishing electronic links between the Ministry of Labor and other government institutions involved in issuing work permits.

The minister said the objective is to provide faster and more efficient services while ensuring that applications remain accurate and comply with Egypt’s legal and regulatory requirements.

He also directed officials to complete the electronic integration between the new platform and all ministries and government agencies involved in the work permit process.

According to the ministry, linking the relevant authorities electronically will allow information and applications to be transferred more efficiently, reduce repetitive procedures, and enable more stages of the process to be completed through one platform.

Representatives of Tarabot also presented updates on the platform’s development, preparations for the service centre, technical infrastructure and plans to connect the system with relevant government entities.

The ministry said final preparations are currently underway ahead of the official launch of the digital foreign work permit service.

The new platform is expected to make Egypt’s foreign work permit system more accessible and efficient while supporting the government’s broader efforts to expand digital public services and improve the country’s investment environment.
