Texas Governor Greg Abbott has strongly condemned Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, a migrant accused of setting his home on fire with his three children inside. Pulgar, 46, faces three counts of attempted murder following the November 6 incident in Fulshear, Texas. Abbott vowed to work with President-elect Trump’s incoming “border czar” to ensure stricter enforcement of immigration laws.
It remains unclear whether Pulgar immigrated to the U.S. legally, as his legal status is described as “unknown.” Fox News Digital reached out to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for clarification, but Abbott has yet to confirm his status. On Monday, Abbott took to X (formerly Twitter) to call for Pulgar to “spend the rest of his life” in jail.
Abbott’s post read: “A Venezuelan immigrant – legal status unknown – is accused of setting a Texas house on fire with three children inside. He better spend the rest of his life behind bars.” The governor also pledged to collaborate with Tom Homan, the incoming “border czar,” to locate and deport criminal migrants.
Despite the severity of the incident, none of Pulgar’s children were killed. One child, a three-year-old, suffered severe smoke inhalation and was airlifted to a hospital but was later released after treatment. The other two children escaped with minor injuries. The house, however, sustained significant damage.
Pulgar himself suffered extensive injuries from the blaze. After being treated in the hospital, he was booked into the Fort Bend County Jail, with a bond set at $2.25 million.
