An Afghan migrant, Safi Dawood, has appeared in court after being accused of a triple stabbing in Uxbridge that left one man dead and two others injured. Dawood, 22, is said to have carried out the attacks on Monday, October 27, at a home where he was renting a room. The case has drawn major attention because he had previously entered the UK in a lorry in 2020 before later being granted asylum in 2022.

According to the court, Dawood allegedly stabbed his landlord, 45-year-old Shahzad Farrukh, inside the property before a 14-year-old boy was also reportedly injured. Both managed to survive after seeking help from neighbours. Witnesses said the situation was chaotic as neighbours rushed to give support while Dawood was seen holding a knife.

The attack is also said to have continued outside, where 40-year-old dogwalker Wayne Broadhurst was stabbed. He was a stranger to Dawood and was reportedly walking past on his usual route. Broadhurst sadly died from his injuries, and his colleagues later described him as a valued and dedicated worker at Greener Ealing Ltd, which provides environmental and waste services for Ealing Council.

What was the reaction to the loss of Wayne Broadhurst?
His workplace said it was a heartbreaking loss and praised him as a respected member of their team who served the community well.

During the court hearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Dawood did not speak to confirm his name and remained silent throughout the session. He was brought into the courtroom in handcuffs and sat hunched over, flanked by officers. District Judge Michael Snow then ordered that he remain in custody.

The case will now move to the Old Bailey, where Dawood is expected to appear again. He faces charges of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The situation has also sparked discussions regarding the support and monitoring of migrants who have recently been granted asylum.

Investigations are still ongoing, and more information is expected to be revealed during the next court hearing.
