The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Boar (BP2MI) and Soekarno-Hatta Airport Immigration successfully stopped an illegal attempt to send Indonesian migrant workers to Cambodia. In a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday, Firman Yulianto, Acting Director of Protection and Empowerment for the Asia and Africa Region of BP2MI, announced that this prevention effort occurred on Friday, July 26, 2024.

BP2MI received information that three prospective migrant workers were planning to travel to Cambodia via Bangkok. Upon receiving this information, BP2MI’s head, Benny Rhamdani, ordered immediate coordination with Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Immigration to stop the workers from departing. The prompt action led to the successful prevention of two of the three individuals from flying to Cambodia at the International Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta Airport. However, the third individual could not be identified as they had not yet passed through the airport’s departure immigration.

BP2MI is committed to preventing the illegal placement of Indonesian workers. The organization continues to work diligently to ensure that all placements are conducted legally and safely. It is important to note that Cambodia is not a designated destination country for Indonesian migrant workers. BP2MI’s efforts are aimed at protecting workers from illegal recruitment and ensuring their safety.

The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Board (BP2MI) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and legal placement of Indonesian workers abroad. The organization is dedicated to preventing illegal recruitment and protecting workers from exploitation. BP2MI’s efforts are vital in ensuring that workers are placed in safe and legal employment.
