    King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer

    Buckingham Palace has announced that King Charles III has received a cancer diagnosis. While the specific type of cancer remains undisclosed, the ailment was discovered during recent treatment for a benign enlarged prostate. The 75-year-old monarch has begun “regular treatments” and will temporarily suspend public duties. Despite the diagnosis, he remains optimistic about treatment and aims to resume full duties soon.

    Further details regarding the cancer’s stage or prognosis have not been provided. King Charles personally informed his sons, with the Prince of Wales maintaining regular contact. Prince Harry, residing in the US, plans to visit soon.

    Returning to London from Sandringham, the King began outpatient treatment. While pausing public engagements, he will continue constitutional duties, including meetings with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. In the case of his inability to perform official duties, “counselors of state” may act on his behalf.

    King Charles’s public disclosure aligns with past advocacy for cancer-related causes. A previous prostate procedure revealed the cancer diagnosis. His openness aims to encourage more men to undergo screenings.

    Support from political leaders, including Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, and US President Joe Biden, follows the announcement. The King and Queen’s upcoming official visits remain uncertain, pending updates on the King’s health.
