The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has reaffirmed its dedication to supporting migration affairs in Cambodia. During a recent meeting, Kristin Parco, the outgoing Chief of Mission for IOM in Cambodia, emphasized the organization’s ongoing commitment to cooperating with the Cambodian government. She expressed gratitude for the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training’s support and cooperation during her tenure.

Parco assured that the new IOM president will continue to work closely with the Ministry to maintain the momentum of their collaborative efforts. Heng Sour, the Minister of Labour and Vocational Training, praised Parco for her successful mission in Cambodia, acknowledging her significant contributions to the country’s migration progress. He noted that her leadership has advanced Cambodia’s migration policies in line with the government’s vision.

The reaffirmation of IOM’s commitment comes at a critical time as Cambodia continues to address various migration challenges and opportunities. The ongoing partnership aims to enhance migration management, ensuring safe, orderly, and regular migration in the region. This collaboration is crucial for improving the lives of migrants and supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

IOM’s work in Cambodia focuses on a range of migration issues, including labor migration, human trafficking, and migrant health. By strengthening migration policies and systems, IOM helps to create a more sustainable and supportive environment for migrants. The organization’s efforts are aligned with Cambodia’s national strategies and international standards, promoting effective migration governance.

The continuation of this partnership between IOM and the Cambodian government is expected to bring about positive changes in the management of migration affairs. It highlights the importance of international cooperation in addressing migration challenges and fostering development. With ongoing support and collaboration, Cambodia is poised to make significant strides in its migration policies and practices.
