More than 4,100 electronic identification cards have been issued to Afghan citizens living in the United Arab Emirates since the start of the solar year 1404 (2025), according to the National Statistics and Information Authority operating under the current administration in Afghanistan.

The authority said the electronic ID cards were distributed through the Easy Services center located in Abu Dhabi. The initiative aims to help Afghan citizens abroad access official identification and resolve issues related to their personal records.

Officials explained that the center not only issues new electronic ID cards but also provides correction services for both digital and paper identification documents. These services include fixing personal information errors and addressing registration problems that many migrants face.

According to the statement, around 60 people visit the center daily to obtain ID cards or resolve identity document issues. Many of these visitors come from different parts of the world, including the Canada, the United States, and several European countries, in addition to Afghans currently living in the UAE.

The statistics authority also announced plans to expand identity registration services for Afghans abroad. As part of this effort, three additional identity registration centers have been established in different cities across Iran to support Afghan migrants seeking documentation.

The expansion comes as many Afghan migrants around the world continue to report difficulties accessing consular and identity services, especially since major political changes in Afghanistan in recent years.

Officials stated that the Easy Services center in Abu Dhabi will continue operating for the next four months to allow more Afghan residents to receive their electronic ID cards and resolve issues with existing documents.

However, authorities have not yet clarified what arrangements will be put in place once the four-month period ends, leaving some uncertainty about how Afghan migrants in the UAE will access identity services in the future.
