The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has launched its second annual Ramadan campaign, “Share the Blessings,” expanding the Islamic Philanthropy Fund (IPF) to reach migrants and displaced families affected by crises worldwide. Building on last year’s initiatives in Sudan, the campaign now covers multiple emergency contexts, addressing urgent humanitarian needs caused by conflict, climate shocks, and displacement.
Mohammed Abdiker, IOM Chief of Staff and Chair of the IPF Advisory Body, highlighted the Fund’s mission: “At its heart, the IPF is about compassion, solidarity, and our shared responsibility to care for one another. Through the Fund, we make it possible for Zakat to reach people who have been displaced, exploited, or left without protection, helping them meet their needs with dignity and choice.”
Ramadan is traditionally a period of generosity for Muslim communities, yet millions of migrants and displaced people continue to face insecurity and limited access to basic services. The campaign facilitates Zakat donations in full accordance with Shariah principles, ensuring support reaches vulnerable populations while maintaining respect, dignity, and accountability.
Assistance provided through the IPF includes emergency shelter, health care, protection services, and cash assistance. Cash-based support empowers families to make decisions about their immediate needs, helping preserve dignity and simultaneously supporting local economies, even in crisis situations.
Funds raised will aid displaced families, stranded migrants, survivors of trafficking, and vulnerable host communities in priority regions including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Gaza Strip, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.
The IPF is IOM’s global mechanism for collecting, managing, and distributing Zakat, Sadaqah, and other forms of Muslim alms. It operates with a 100 per cent Zakat distribution policy, ensuring all contributions are delivered directly to eligible beneficiaries in alignment with Shariah and IOM’s accountability standards. Recognized fatawa confirm IOM’s eligibility to administer Muslim alms, supporting transparency and trust.
Since its launch, the Fund has expanded through digital campaigns and direct donor engagement, making faith-aligned giving more accessible. As humanitarian needs rise, IOM continues to strengthen the IPF, diversifying funding sources to sustain vital support for migrants and displaced people worldwide.
Donations for the Ramadan campaign and Zakat can be made securely through IOM’s online platform, available in English and Arabic.
